BUENOS AIRES

Standing as the gateway to Argentina and at the mouth of the famous Rio De La Plata, the Republic's capital has 3 million inhabitants (locally known as "Porteños") and 48 districts to get to know.
Widely regarded as one of the cultural capitals of the world, visitors to Buenos Aires often find themselves lost in a world of theatre, music, dance (Tango) and museums, with the city offering a seemingly endless array of activities and entertainment.
If you want to eat your way through the "city that never sleeps", Buenos Aires has over 3000 dining options serving up the classics (grills, pizza etc.) or international dishes, with both great food and a fun night on the menu.

How to get there

By Bus

"Retiro", the country's main bus station, is located in the centre of Buenos Aires. This terminal connects to all the main national tourist destinations and to those of neighbouring countries.
The station is just minutes away from downtown Buenos Aires and is easily accessed by metro, bus or taxi.

By Plane

The city has 2 international airports:

"Jorge Newbery" Airport (AEP) or "Aeroparque", handles mainly domestic and regional flights. It is located in the city approximately 20 minutes from downtown and is most easily reached by taxi.

"Ministro Pistarini" International Airport (EZE) or "Ezeiza" handles mostly international flights. It is located on the outskirts of the city approximately 45 minutes from downtown.

It can be reached by taxi or by a regular bus service (Manuel Tienda Leon)

The main airlines operating within Argentina are Aerolineas Argentinas, Lan Argentina, Airlines Andes and Lade.

Money

11/4130-3135)

Health and Safety

Buenos Aires has several public hospitals. To avoid long waits, it is recommended that you visit the following private hospitals, where you will also find bilingual staff:

GERMAN HOSPITAL: Av Pueyrredón 1640 / Tel (011) 4805-6087 / 4821-1700 / 4827-4502

Buenos Aires is a safe city but like any large city, caution should be exercised in certain areas. Never expose your valuables (money, wallets, cameras, cell phones, jewelry, etc.) to avoid pickpockets (the most common type of theft in this city).

Places where more attention should be paid to avoid this type of theft are La Boca, Retiro Station, Florida Street and San Telmo.

Taxis are not entirely reliable, and only taxis which have a sign on the roof of the car should be hailed in the street. To avoid any possible danger in taxis, you should ask your hotel receptionist to order a taxi.

If you are the victim of any type of crime, contact:
